Hello, I’m Dr. James Segulyev, DDS and I am delighted for the opportunity to provide you with Regenerative Therapy with PRF at my North Dallas office. I became a Dentist in 2001 because I believe I have been called to help people transform their current dental health status by purposefully moving forward towards health, wellness, vitality, and longevity. I am passionate about helping people live a better life and have a more fulfilling future through optimal dental health.

I’m a life-long learner and I have always been driven. I encourage my patients to learn more about their treatment options, and I believe they expect me to do the same. I make it a priority to invest and attain advanced training and continuing education in my profession. I have received specialized training and education in the PRF protocol. I took steps to complete the training for PRF Treatment because I wanted to be of maximum service to my patients. My goal is to help patients suffering from chronic, debilitating jaw pain obtain lasting relief without having to resort to painful, financially draining procedures. In addition to receiving specialized training for PRF, I have completed the curriculum of study at The Spear Institute for Advanced Dental Education and am also a graduate of The Stewart Center for Minimally-Invasive Dental Medicine.

If you’re searching for a holistic, minimally invasive solution that can restore your TMJ health, I encourage you to reach out to me, I would love the opportunity to discuss this option for your TMJ pain relief.

What Is PRF Treatment?

PRF Treatment is a therapeutic approach that relies on the body’s natural healing mechanisms. It is commonly used by holistic practitioners, such as myself, to treat medical conditions involving weakened or injured joints, ligaments, and tendons, including TMJ Disorders. Patients undergo a simple procedure during which blood is extracted and processed to create platelet-rich fibrin that helps stimulate healing and tissue growth.

First, a small amount of blood is extracted for processing. The blood is placed in a centrifuge which produces a rotational force that causes the components to separate. Then, platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is obtained from the processed blood and injected back into the patient’s body.

PRF contains high concentrations of platelets, growth factors, and white blood cells that are part of our natural anatomy. These components are essential for tissue regeneration and healing. By applying PRF to the damaged jaw joints, we are essentially able to give the body more of what it needs to heal.

Natural, Minimally Invasive TMJ Treatment

Experts estimate that over 10 million Americans suffer daily from TMJ Disorders. Characterized by jaw popping, teeth grinding, migraines, sleeplessness, back pain, and restricted jaw movement, TMJ Disorders are described as painful and disruptive, often having a major impact on patients’ quality of life.

With PRF, we can tap into your body’s powerful internal healing mechanisms and directly initiate the process of tissue repair and regeneration. PRF Treatment stands out as a modern, all-natural solution for treating jaw pain and TMJ Disorders. It accounts for the whole patient, including your health, comfort, and lifestyle, and does not force you to undergo costly or invasive procedures.

PRF Treatment Process: What to Expect

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) Therapy is an all-natural, minimally invasive treatment that does not require surgery.
The process is relatively comfortable for patients and is completed in a few simple steps which include:

First, I will conduct a detailed evaluation of your oral health, paying particular attention to the condition of your jaw joints and chewing system. Then, we will discuss your symptoms and treatment history. This consultation helps me determine whether you’re a good candidate for PRF Therapy.

Next, I’ll begin preparing for PRF Therapy. I’ll collect a small blood sample, which is obtained in a manner as quick and simple as a standard blood draw.

Your blood sample is then processed in a centrifuge, which separates the Platelet-Rich Fibrin from the other components of your blood. This process increases the concentration of platelets, growth factors, and white blood cells, which are key agents in your body’s natural healing processes.

With precision and care, the extracted PRF is injected directly into the affected area of the TMJ. This targeted approach allows the potent healing elements within the PRF to directly interact with the damaged tissues, reducing inflammation and pain while stimulating tissue regeneration.

My team and I will give you detailed aftercare instructions, so you know how to care for your TMJs post-treatment. At a later date, you will return to my office for a follow-up appointment so I can monitor your healing and progress.

Will I Need a CT Scan for PRF Therapy?

A CT scan isn’t necessarily mandatory for PRF therapy, but it may be recommended in specific situations. A CT scan may help me gain a detailed understanding of your craniofacial anatomy and identify features associated with TMJ disorders. In some cases, a CT scan may not make sense and a different type of imaging modality or assessment tool may be more ideal. Truly, it depends on your individual health and situation.

PRF Vs. PRP – What’s the Difference?

If you’ve been looking into Regenerative Dentistry, you may have come across the term “PRP” or “Platelet-Rich Plasma Treatment.” PRF and PRP are both types of Regenerative Dentistry, but they have some key differences.

PRP, made by centrifuging blood with anticoagulants, yields a high concentration of platelets in plasma for immediate growth factor release. This makes it beneficial for acute injuries.

PRF is produced at a lower centrifuge speed without anticoagulants, creating a fibrin matrix containing platelets, white blood cells, and stem cells, allowing for a sustained release of growth factors. This makes PRF ideal for long-term healing and tissue regeneration.

While PRP offers a quick healing start, PRF provides comprehensive, long-term support due to its unique composition. For these reasons, I have chosen to focus my efforts on providing PRF to TMJ patients.
