As a dentist, there are moments that remind you exactly why you chose this profession. Recently, I experienced one of those moments when Kimberly White of Kimberly White Speech & Myofunctional Therapy shared a beautiful post celebrating the progress of three brothers we’ve all had the privilege of caring for together.
Kimberly White Speech & Myofunctional Therapy wrote:
“We had the absolute honor of working with this handsome group of brothers in speech and myofunctional therapy, and what a journey it has been. The big brothers stayed focused, committed to the process, and kept their goals in sight every step of the way. They set such a strong example for their little brother… and he made it very clear he was not going to be left behind. All three boys met their goals, and that is something worth celebrating.”
Reading her words was incredibly meaningful to me because I’ve had the honor of treating SIX of this family’s SEVEN boys with airway-focused expansion and growth development therapy. Watching these young men improve their breathing, oral function, sleep quality, jaw development, confidence, and overall health has been truly rewarding beyond words.
This is exactly why I am so passionate about airway health and whole-body dentistry.
For many children, airway issues can go unnoticed for years. Mouth breathing, crowded teeth, poor sleep, snoring, difficulty focusing, behavioral concerns, improper jaw growth, speech challenges, and chronic fatigue can often be connected to airway dysfunction and underdeveloped jaws. In many cases, traditional dentistry focuses only on the teeth, while the real issue may involve breathing, growth, oral posture, and function.
That’s why I take a comprehensive and minimally invasive approach to care at Segulyev Dental Arts. Through airway-focused dentistry, expansion therapy, myofunctional collaboration, chewing system optimization, and biologic principles, we work to help children develop healthier airways and more stable long-term function.
One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been the collaboration involved in these cases. I’m deeply grateful for Kimberly White and the incredible work she does through speech and myofunctional therapy. Proper tongue posture, muscle function, swallowing patterns, and breathing habits are all essential components of long-term success.
I also want to acknowledge Dr. Hal Stewart and The Stewart Center for Minimally Invasive Dental Medicine for their mentorship, collaboration, and shared passion for minimally invasive, airway-centered care. Working alongside colleagues who dedicate their lives to changing patients’ health outcomes through comprehensive treatment is something I value tremendously.
When families commit to this process together, the results can be life-changing.
Helping children breathe better, sleep better, and function better often impacts far more than their smiles. We frequently see improvements in confidence, energy, facial development, speech, focus, and overall quality of life. That’s the power of airway-centered care.
To this wonderful family: thank you for trusting me with your children’s care. That trust is something I never take lightly, and it has been an incredible privilege to be part of your journey.
If your child struggles with mouth breathing, crowded teeth, restless sleep, snoring, speech concerns, or other signs of airway dysfunction, I encourage you to schedule an airway health evaluation. Early intervention can make an enormous difference in a child’s long-term health and development.
At Segulyev Dental Arts, we are passionate about helping children and families experience healthier breathing, better sleep, improved function, and lifelong wellness through holistic and biologic dentistry.
Sincerely,
Dr. James Segulyev, DDS
